Shooting the “Super Moon”

Image

O Lord, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth! who hast set thy glory above the heavens… When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained, What is man, that thou art mindful of him?…
(Psalm 8:1,3,4)

I fumbled in the darkness of my back yard to the frenzied tune of frogs and crickets. I had a bit of trouble setting my camera up on my Manfrotto tripod in attempts to get that perfect shot of the Super Moon. I finally decided that a flashlight would be helpful and got everything in place. I shot this photo with my Canon EOS 7d using the Canon 70-300mm lens with image stabilizer. I was amazed at the detail I managed to get! I have tried many times to get a great shot of the moon and have to say I am pleased. I shot the image at f/5.6, 1/320 sec., ISO160, 300mm and used the spot metering mode.
